Events @ KEI

KEI has regular events for a reason. Whether they are educational or cultural, sports or arts, every event has something to teach the students that they can carry along with them throughout their entire lifetime. When a student leaves the audience’s seat and participates, he/ she is gathering experience by being involved and the feedback mechanism of this lesson is far better than any theory or application. Hence, it is primary that students take part in every event.

Participation boosts self-confidence, it also makes the competition better and multiple options open up for the students. The psychological impacts are also tremendous. A student captaining the football team in a practice match and then leading the same team in an inter-house event within the campus itself, the stark difference between the two events will create separate levels of leadership qualities in that student. When the stage becomes grand, the stakes rise, every student inherently puts in more than he/she would normally have. Just as a loss hurts that much, a win creates massive excitement. And the psychological connections created from the experience will have a long-lasting impact. The events work to amplify the circumstances which, in turn, ingrains the skills learned.

March 6, 2020

KEI welcomes and celebrates the colorful season of spring with utmost warmth. This year it was celebrated on 06.03.2020. The children participated and performed songs, dances etc. in groups and solo. It is presently an indispensable piece of Bengali culture.

The wonderful custom of praising spring celebration in Bengal was first begun by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. As a matter of fact, Basant Utsav is the same as Holi, aside from the elegance with which it is praised. At KEI, Basanta Utsav is praised with massive intensity, colour and energy. On that day all students and all other teaching and non-teaching staff, wearing yellow Basanti shading, welcome spring - the period of expectation, in an exceptionally exquisite way. Later in the day, all members apply hued powders on each other.
