The Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology program at Kingston College of Science (KCS) is designed to provide students with specialized training in the field of ophthalmology. This course focuses on eye care technology, including the use of diagnostic equipment, assisting in eye surgeries, and providing pre- and post-operative care to patients with eye-related conditions. Students will gain practical experience through internships at our own hospital, Kingston General Hospital, where they can apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world clinical setting, working alongside experienced ophthalmologists and healthcare professionals.

The course duration for students with a 12^th Science background is 2 years, while for students with 10^th or 12^th in Arts/Commerce, the duration is 3 years. The curriculum includes eye examination techniques, optical instrument handling, visual acuity testing, and patient care, ensuring that students are proficient in both clinical skills and theoretical knowledge required for the profession. This comprehensive training equips students to assist in eye surgeries, conduct diagnostic tests, and help manage patients with various ophthalmic disorders.
