Categories of Foreign Students


Foreign Students : Students holding passports issued by foreign countries including people of Indian origin (who have acquired the nationality of foreign countries) are classified as foreign students.

Non Resident Indians (NRI) : An Indian Citizen who stays abroad for employment / carrying on business or vocation outside India or stays abroad under circumstances indicating an intention for an uncertain duration of stay abroad is a non-resident. (Persons posted in U.N. Organisations and Officials deputed abroad by Central / State Governments and Public Sector undertakings on temporary assignments are also treated as non-residents). Non –Resident foreign citizens of Indian Origin are treated on par with non-resident Indian Citizens (NRIs) for the purpose of certain facilities.

The following are the main three categories of NRIs :

Indian citizens who stay abroad for employment or for carrying on a business or Vocation or any other purpose in circumstances indicating an indefinite period of stay abroad.

Indian citizens working abroad on assignment with foreign government agencies like United Nations Organisation (UNO), including its affiliates, International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank etc.

Officials of Central and State Government and Public Sector undertaking deputed abroad on temporary assignments or posted to their offices, including Indian diplomat missions, abroad.

NRI Sponsored Students : An NRI sponsored student is an Indian citizen whose direct blood relative (Parents, Grand Parents, Parent's direct Brother / Sister or Candidate's direct Brother / Sister) is an NRI.

Kingston Educational Institute is proud to announce that two of our subsidiary colleges Kingston School of Management & Science and Kington College of Science facilitates all the above stated categories of Foreign students.

Kingston School of Management & Science – As per MaulanaAbulKalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) norms, they have allocated a 5% quota on all of their courses specifically for international students. Total number of seats allocated for all KSMS courses, stream wise are as follows:

B.B.A(H) – Bachelor Of Business Management(Hons.) – 3 seats only
B.C.A(H) – Bachelor Of Computer Application (Hons.) – 3 seats only
BBA (Hospital Management) - 6 seats only
B.Sc Hospitality & Hotel Administration Program – 3 seats only
B.Sc. Culinary Science – 2 seats only

West Bengal State University has no such norms resulting in a mass intake of international students for all our KCS courses.
